Incident: China Airlines B738 near Taipei on Jul 22nd 2010, loss of cabin pressure

A China Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration B-18612 performing flight CI-112 from Taipei (Taiwan) to Hiroshima (Japan) with 89 passengers, was climbing to FL360 when the crew noticed the cabin altitude climbed above 8000 feet and continued to climb. The crew levelled off and began to work the according checklists but could not stop the cabin climbing above 14000 feet, at which point the crew initiated an emergency descent to 10000 feet and decided to return to Taipei. The airplane landed safely about one hour after departure. Taiwan s Aviation Safety Council (ASC) initiated an investigation. According to the technical logs of the aircraft there had been a defect in the air conditioning system, which had been repaired just before the flight. When the cabin altitude climbed above 8000 feet the crew levelled off and began to work the checklists, then declared emergency when the cabin pressure dropped below 14000 feet.
