Incident: Qantas B738 near Sydney on Jul 25th 2010, anti-ice failure

A Qantas Boeing 737-800, registration VH-VXR performing flight QF-922 from Sydney,NS to Cairns,QL (Australia), returned to Sydney due to the failure of an anti-ice system for a safe landing about 3 hours after departure. A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration VH-VYF reached Cairns with a delay of 4.5 hours. Qantas said, they had a minor technical fault which made it unadvisable to continue into icing conditions. The crew decided to divert to the nearest airport without encountering icing conditions, which was the return to Sydney.
