Incident: BMI A320 at London on Jul 24th 2010, hydraulic failure

A BMI British Midland Airways Airbus A320-200 on behalf of Swiss European Airlines, registration G-MIDY performing flight LX-348 from Geneva (Switzerland) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was on final approach to Heathrow s runway 27R when upon lowering the landing gear the crew received a number of fault messages indicating the failure of the green hydraulic system. The crew executed a missed approach but was unable to retract the gear, held for about 20 minutes to work the according checklists, then repositioned for another approach to runway 27R and landed safely about 30 minutes after aborting the first approach. The airplane stopped on the runway and was subsequently towed to the gate, where the passengers disembarked normally. The runway was closed for about 15 minutes.
