Incident: Copa B738 at Orlando on Jul 19th 2010, bird strike

The gashA Copa Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration HP-1711CMP performing flight CMP-478 from Panama City (Panama) to Orlando,FL (USA), completed a seemingly uneventful flight and taxied to the gate. Ground personnel discovered a substantial gash with feathers entangled (about 11.5 inches/30cm long) in the left hand inboard slat resulting from a bird strike. The return flight CMP-479 had to be cancelled. The incident airplane was able to perform CMP-479 only the next day (Jul 20th).
