Incident: American B752 near Orlando on Jul 17th 2010, slat delamination

The beginning of the damageAn American Airlines Boeing 757-200, flight AA-1990 from Miami,FL to Orlando,FL (USA), was enroute during the 38 minutes flight when a passenger noticed a developing damage near the leading edge of the right hand wing, that spread over time. He brought the damage to the attention of flight attendants. The airplane continued for a safe landing at its destination in Orlando. American Airlines said, that the slats on the right hand wing suffered some delamination, the damage however did not make it unsafe to fly. The airplane was subsequently removed from service for repairs. The FAA have initiated an investigation.
