Accident: United B772 over Kansas on Jul 20th 2010, turbulence injures 25

A United Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration N773UA performing flight UA-967 from Washington Dulles,DC to Los Angeles,CA (USA) with 255 passengers and 10 crew, was enroute at FL340 overhead Kansas when the airplane encountered moderate to severe turbulence causing injuries on board of the aircraft. The crew diverted to Denver,CO (USA) for a safe landing. United Airlines said, 21 passengers and 4 crew were taken to local hospitals, the extent of injuries unknown. The Denver Fire Department reported, that one occupant of the aircraft was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, others were treated on scene having received minor ("walking") injuries like bruises, whiplash injuries, strains and sprains. The FAA reported, one occupant received critical injuries. The airplane received damage to the overhead bins and armrests, no damage is visible to the exterior of the aircraft. Denver s Health department reported a number of occupants were taken to hospitals. Denver police reported, the most serious injury was a woman in her twenties or thirties who complained about head injuries. A replacement Boeing 777-200 registration N777UA reached Los Angeles with a delay of 4 hours.
